We only stayed here for one night and id never go back! The lonley planet has a great write up about this place I can only assume they have never been!!
The room was clean, cheap and the reception staff were friendly but that's all the good stuff I can say. The area is a bit dodgy! And after 7pm the hotel is full of prostitutes. I would not recommend! This downtown hotel mainly comes up well because of its location. It is situated upstairs from the 24 hour restaurant in the area. Otherwise there's not so much going in its favour. We stayed in Hotel Acapulco on our first day in Panama City and my husband insisted on changing hotel after we walked around in the area.
The hotel itself is not very modern and I disliked the room because we found so much rubbish from the previous guests in the bathroom and in the bedroom, too! The receptionists did not speak English very well but luckily there was no difficulty in communicating with them. The corridor on our floor was not well-lit and i saw some strange people staying there who looked like drug-dealers.
I was glad when we left the next morning because I felt rather uncomfortable at this hotel. We booked this hotel at the last minute, in rather a panic, as everywhere else seemed to be full. We phoned the day before and were told the price of the room was 38 dollars. We confirmed the booking and told the receptionist we would be arriving late afternoon.
When we arrived at 4pm, we were told that the room would cost 45 dollars. On querying this, we were told that it was the only room left and was more expensive because it had a balcony.
