Just curious to hear some insight?? Been to guardalavaca beach many times and wasn't a problem and made for a fun day at the beach!!
I've never noticed a heavy police presence when I have visited the area, but I have heard that from time to time there is a crackdown on sex tourism, so perhaps that is what is going on. He said he spent his evenings at Rumbos Las Palmas , and each night the policia would drive up in front repeatedly, get out of their car , and stand there staring at everyone for about 10 minutes, and then drive off He said that as the police were staring at everyone in the bar And as soon as the police drove off, everyone began talking again.
He said it was absolutely weird. They are getting extremely strick with this and is trying very hard to cut it down.
They are so strick that a tourist cannot visit a local house, after certain hour, I believe 6pm. If they get caught the local will suffer the penalties, so they are very scared as well. Been that way for years. Police are always out at night either at Rumbos or outside Mar Verde or both. The crackdowns happen during high-season especially.
I suppose the policia have a job to do, but it's getting a bit ridiculous. My friend said it was a very tense and nerve wracking feeling everytime the police would do their stare-downs Everyone was referring to the police as the prison guards.
