I've just made the journey listed in subject line and thought I'd give a brief account of my experience to reassure anyone who is considering making the same journey.. I'm a 23yr old woman, from UK and travelling alone. I'd planned to find others to make this stretch of the journey with because of the security concerns in the area..
I did actually suceed v quickly in finding a number of people by leaving a quick post on this forum but then I dawdled, left UK a few months behind schedule and missed my chance with the people I met online! I planned to look for new people on here when in Iran and with a better idea of dates but whilst in Iran inet was so painfully slow that i got angry and gave up trying to use it for anything..
I took a bus from Yazd to Zahedan rial, 14hrs, leaving at 4pm arriving at 6 in morn. I didn't fancy staying in Zahedan for anything and planned to head straight to border, by bus, after arriving at bus station. I was surrounded by taxi drivers offering to take me to border and telling me there was no bus that goes there, a bit overwhelming at 6am. I checked inside the terminal.
A nice man with limited english explained that i needed to take a taxi to somewhere called falakay and then take a bus from there it's possibly not spelt like this but that is the word I said to the taxi drivers and they understood as far as i remember this isn't mentioned in LP although I'm not travelling with a copy so can't check.
The guy at terminal told me it'd cost rial in a taxi to falakay. The taxi drivers wanted , we settled on When we reached falakay i was a bit confused. I was expecting a bus terminal but it was actually just a kerbside by the side of a fairly big road. Taxi drivers surrounded me again telling me that there was no bus to the border but as i'd read in LP that there are buses, I decided to ignore them and wait around..
